Woman the entrance to a Yurt The word yurt is said to originate from Turkic, the parent language of the modern day Turkish. In its origin, Yurt meant a dwelling place rather than a round tent, which is what comes to mind today when you hear the word Yurt.

The modern day meaning and indeed the English language word was derived from Russian, where it is called "Yurta" , it is via this crossover from Russian to English that Yurt as it is spell and what it connotes in English language today was established.

Tipis

Native American Indian couple at the entrance of a Tipi Tipi, also known as teepee, tepee and sometime incorrectly referred to as wigwam is a conical tent, made from animal skins or birch bark.

Tipi, first made by Native Americans have gained popularity all over the world.

In UK, Tipis is popular with the alternative scene, it is often used as tents in large music festivals such as Glastonbury and other outdoor events.
